Relay for Life at Swarner Park on Friday, June 18th - Saturday, June 19th, from 6pm-6am
The American Cancer Society Relay For Life is a life-changing event that gives everyone in communities across the globe a chance to celebrate the lives of people who have battled cancer, remember loved ones lost, and fight back against the disease. At Relay, teams of people camp out at a local high school or park and take turns walking or running around a track or path. Each team is asked to have a team member on the track at all times during the event. Because Cancer never sleeps! Relay is an overnight event that lasts 24 hours long.
Please come out and Support the Relay for Life of Shawnee & Lenexa/Double D's Team on Friday, June 18th - Saturday, June 19th, from 6pm-6am, at Swarner Park. It's located at: 6200 Lackman Rd, in Shawnee.

~Old Shawnee Days Parade~
On Saturday, June 5th, the Double D's walked in the Old Shawnee Days Parade with the Relay for Life American Cancer Society. We walked the Parade to help support the ACS and promote the Relay for Life. We also promoted our Lanie 2010 American Girl Doll Fundraiser for our Double D's Team. The kids passed out fliers for the ACS & for the Lanie Fundraiser. Also, the kids, Donna & Tim held up the ACS Relay for Life Banner in the Parade. Vonda pulled Lanie & all her goodies in a wagon to show her off. So, hopefully we have spread the word out in Shawnee about the Relay for Life & about the Lanie Fundraiser.

Clear Creek Elementary Coins for Cancer Drive
~MRS. RULE'S 3rd GRADE CLASS~
On May 10th - May 14th, the Double D's Relay for Life Team organized a Coins for Cancer Drive at Clear Creek Elementary to raise funds to help find a Cure for Cancer. Each classroom was supplied with a Relay for Life coin box and the class collecting the most money would earn an ice cream party. We also challenged the KU Medical & Nursing Students to a Coins for Cancer Coin Drive Contest to see who can raise the most money.
Thank you to everyone who donated your spare change to help support the American Cancer Society's Programs such as Research, Patient Education, and even Volunteers that can take patients to Appointments or Treatments.
Who will collect the most money for the Coins for Cancer Coin Drive? Will it be Clear Creek Elementary Students or KU Medical & Nursing Students?
The Winners were Clear Creek Elementary School! They raised a total of $592.64, with Mrs. Rule's 3rd Grade Class being the winner, which worked out great, because that's Donna's daughter Abby's class. KU Medical & Nursing Students raised $24.00 total. We raised a total of $616.64 with both schools combined.
Thank you for participating in our first Coins for Cancer Coin Drive! All Proceeds will go to the American Cancer Society! It was a huge Success!!
